Pineapple often referred to as ANANAS COMORORUS is an edible tropical fruit which comes from the Bromliaceae plant family. It is mostly cultivated in South America and Africa. Europeans taste for pineapples have grown over the years and hence import more into their countries.
Pineapples grow as a small shrub, the individual flowers of the unpollinated plant fuse to form a multiple fruit. The plant is normally propagated from the offset produced at the top of the fruit, or from a side shoot, and typically mature within a year.
